Timing System Tension

Tension is needed to keep both timing wheels moving in unison.

CAUTION - It is necessary to reduce tension to remove or replace the grip. Occasional light grease under the grip is necessary to achieve maximum performance.

  1. Place the bow on bench with the string under your arm and weight bolts toward bench (fig. 15). Face toward tension spool with flat screw driver in left hand and small allen wrench in right hand (left-handed bows are opposite) While having the string under your arm balances the bow, both hands are available to hold the screwdriver in the slot while turning set screw which locks spool.

CAUTION: Before drawing bow, check to see if cable is correctly on the two small idler wheels and around timing wheels (fig. 16),

CAUTION: When placing grip over cable - first push both grip screws through grip and watch screws as they are inserted into riser holes to insure they are on proper sides of the cables.

NOTE: Over tensioning of timing system is not necessary if the tiller is correct and may result in premature wear on the grip or cable as well as reduced bow performance.
